Peggy Roark

Peggy is originally from South Boston, Virginia where she worked in the Halifax County Court system as a paralegal with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office. Peggy has experience in working with Hospice of Wake County and Home Health as a caregiver for Alzheimer and Dementia patients. She has worked with FLVF since 2014 part time and then full time since January, 2016. Since being with FLVF, Peggy has received numerous certificates some of which are: Sexual Assault 101, Domestic Violence 101, Law and the Advocate: Protecting the Client and Their Privacy, Basic Court Advocacy, NC Address Confidentiality Program, the Victim Service Practitioner Certification process with NC Victim’s Assistance Network as well as The Advocate’s Institute Certification with NCCADV. Having completed training with PREA & Advocacy with NCCASA, Peggy also serves as an Advocate with Polk Correctional Institution. In her spare time and continuing her life of service, Peggy also serves on the board of a local dog rescue group.

Cecilia Barrenechea

Cecilia was born and raised in South America, in the land of the Incas, Peru. In April 2001 she moved with her three children to the United States that is the country that became their new home. She likes constant improvement, and loves to learn; in May 2017 Cecilia graduated from Vance Granville Community College with and Associates in Arts. Her passion are the languages, she is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. She has more than 20 years’ experience in Customer Service; she worked in the field of Childhood Education, and in the Insurance Market, while volunteering for FLVF as an advocate for the shelter and the crisis line; and interpreting for the Spanish speaking community. Being a survivor herself and as a way of expressing thanks to God and life for the great opportunities and blessings in 2013 she became part of the team of FLVF working for the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. A quote that inspires her: “A successful woman is one who can build a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at her”.

Hispanic Services Advocate
Jeanette Cozart

Jeanette Cozart was born and raised in the small town of Eccles, (short for Ecclesiastics) West Virginia. She relocated to North Carolina in February 1987 to secure employment.  Jeanette never turned back and has called North Carolina home for over 30 years. Jeanette joined FLVF in December 2016. She comes to FLVF with many years of experience in Social Services, Legal Services, Crisis Intervention, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Web Content Management. Jeanette also served as a member of the Domestic Violence Team at Legal Aid of North Carolina. Since joining FLVF, Jeanette has completed several Certifications to include: Victim Assistance Certification (NCVAN), Advocates Institute Certification (NCCADV), Children and Domestic Violence Certification (NCCADV), Address Confidentiality Program Certification (ACP), and Nurturing Parenting Certification taught by Dr. Stephen J. Bavolek. Jeanette created and co-facilitates Domestic Violence 101 Educational Sessions. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, traveling and working on websites. 

Youth Services Advocate
Megan Holmes

Megan Holmes is a native of Washington, D.C., but relocated to Greenville, North Carolina in 2007.  She attended North Carolina Central University, where she obtained her Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) degree with a minor in Spanish. Megan has been a community advocate for youth in out-of-home care with an organization by the name of SaySo (Strong Able Youth Speaking Out) for the past 4 years, continues to serve in that capacity by using her life experience to empower others to pursue their needs/wants confidently while educating those in the community on ways they can support the individual’s efforts.  Through SaySo, Megan has served as an advocate at the local, state, and national levels through attending various press releases, bill signings, and lobbying on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Megan partners with SHIFT NC to facilitate Making Proud Choices+ curriculum, which educates youth in out-of-home care about sexual health, healthy relationships, and community resources that will provide them with the information and resources needed to make the best choice for their health. Additionally, Megan serves as a co-facilitator with the National Child Traumatic Stress Network to educate resource (foster and adoptive parents) about caring for children who have experienced trauma. Megan has experience as a former Match Support Specialist with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle, in addition to various positions with Pitt County’s Department of Health and Human Services, and with the Durham Housing Authority. Megan is an active member in her church and says that service is her passion. Megan enjoys singing, cooking, and helping others in any capacity she can. Megan’s optimism and experience serve as a strong motivator for those she interacts with and is thrilled to begin serving with FLVF.

Hispanic Community Advocate
Yamilleth Vazquez

Yamilleth is originally from Puerto Rico, she was raised in south Florida and relocated to North Carolina in 2009.  Yamilleth is the Hispanic Community Advocate at Families Living Violence Free, where Yamilleth advocates for domestic violence and sexual assault victims, including crisis intervention, and case management. Since joining  FLVF in 2018, Yamilleth has received numerous certificates some of which are:  NC Address Confidentiality Program, Children and Domestic Violence Certification (NCCADV) as well as The Advocate’s Institute Certification with NCCADV. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, traveling and volunteering at public schools.
