Police identified the woman in the house as Blanca E. Cadavid. She was killed several hours before officers found her body, according to the medical examiner.
Note: A 9-year-old girl was killed during a domestic violence murder-suicide. Although the details of her relationship to the adult victim and alleged perpetrator are currently unknown, she is included in this list because she was killed during an act of domestic violence.

A man charged with shooting his girlfriend to death in the BridgePointe Hotel parking lot on April 10, was the father of her baby and brought her to New Bern to escape involvement in an alleged homicide in Plymouth, according to family members.
Deputies learned that Abraham Markham and his girlfriend, Morgan Gullie, 22, of Durham, were driving down New Light and Ghoston roads when a fight broke out within the vehicle. During the fight, Gullie allegedly stabbed Markham.

At 7:40 a.m. on May 27, investigators said 40-year-old Debbie Owens was found dead in her bedroom by another resident in the home, who was checking on the victim after not being seen since Monday night. The cause of death was ruled a homicide.
On June 5 around 10:45 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of S. Caldwell Ave. after receiving a call about one female being shot. Once officers got on the scene, they located 51-year-old Iris Ranae Robinson who had multiple gunshot wounds. Robinson was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to a news release from the Pender County Sheriff’s Office, 54-year-old William Dean Hewett was charged with first-degree murder after his estranged girlfriend, Brandy Lynn Price, was found dead on College Street on Saturday.
